Job summary

Aecon is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee HR functions for a Joint Venture project in Ontario. You will manage employee relations, performance, talent acquisition, training, and compensation, aligning HR strategies with business objectives to enhance employee experience and engagement.

You will partner with project and home HR teams, drive headcount planning, interview with hiring managers, and support succession and development initiatives while traveling to project

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in an HR Business Partner function.
• Demonstrated partnership with senior leaders, consultative decision-making, and hands-on employee relations support.
• Versatility and full-scope HR portfolio capability including workforce planning, recruitment strategy, onboarding, performance management, development planning, compensation discussions, investigations, and offboarding.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with high resiliency; JV project experience is a strong asset.
• Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle; willingness to travel to project sites in Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Effective situation/conflict management, collaborating with managers to handle employee relations professionally and timely.
• Identify potential employee relations issues, resolve where possible and escalate when needed.
• Proactive HR communications for town halls, leadership and operations meetings.
• Case management and investigations.
• Coaching managers and employees; applying progressive discipline as appropriate.
• JV policy creation, interpretation and application.
• Coordinate promotions, demotions, transfers, relocations, retirements, and terminations with home HR teams.
• Provide headcount projection and strategic workforce planning support.
• Interview with hiring managers and conduct thorough candidate assessments.
• Support managers with performance management and objective setting.
• Facilitate Talent Reviews and follow-up actions.
• Evaluate training needs and select appropriate training; track completion.
• Support succession management initiatives and ensure succession plans.
• Keep home company HR teams updated on project HR issues; coordinate disability case management as needed.
