Job summary

The City of Hamilton seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to provide financial analysis and strategic advice for the Accounting Services section. The role supports annual statements for consolidated operations, pension funds and trusts, and ensures GST and other tax compliance.

You will lead analysis, assist in budgeting, and help drive financial strategy in a large municipal portfolio with exposure to Council and management across departments.

Qualifications

• University degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Economics with a professional accounting designation (CPA/CFA).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.
• Experience in financial analysis, scenario analysis and budgeting.
• Ability to develop complex financial models and work with stakeholders.
• Experience with municipal financial reporting and GST/other taxes.
• Proven communication, liaison with officials and policy understanding.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial analysis, scenario analysis and strategic advice for Accounting Services.
• Prepare complex annual financial statements for consolidated operations, pension and trust funds.
• Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and tax requirements.
• Oversee accounting functions, banking reconciliations and internal controls.
• Support year-end reporting, performance reporting and presentations to Council.
