Job summary

The Burnaby School District invites applications for the Director of Finance. This on-site leadership role reports to the Assistant Secretary Treasurer and oversees financial services, purchasing, and audit functions across the district.

Ideal candidates will have a CPA designation, a post-secondary business credential, at least 10 years in accounting or finance with 5 years supervisory experience, and strong ERP, data analysis and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and oversight to Financial Services and Purchasing functions.
• Collaborates with Finance leadership across budgeting, payroll, capital accounting, and other financial functions.
• Supports annual budget preparation and financial reporting for Senior Management and the Board.
• Ensures internal controls and compliance with district policies and public sector standards.
• Oversees internal and external audits and procurement compliance.
• Leads, mentors, and coaches Finance staff for skill and leadership development.
