Job summary

The Town of Mount Royal seeks a seasoned Director of Urban Planning and Development to lead planning, land use and regulatory functions. You will oversee permits, inspections and enforcement, shape municipal priorities and advise elected officials on risks and opportunities.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant degree, 15+ years of experience, and membership in the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec, with strong knowledge of Quebec municipal policy and fluency in French and English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education required.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
• Membership in good standing with the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec.
• Strong knowledge of Québec municipal planning laws and regulations.
• Experience leading teams, budgets and projects in a unionized setting.
• Fluent in French and English; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set the department's direction, priorities and action plans.
• Lead urban planning, land use and development projects.
• Oversee permits, inspections and regulatory compliance.
• Advise Town leadership on priority issues and risks.
• Prepare department budget and monitor financial resources.
• Manage staff in a unionized environment and collaborate with partners.
