Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a Director Financial Advisory Services to lead strategic fiscal management for client Departments and Public Service Votes. You will guide a team, shape budgeting and forecasting, and ensure adherence to GAAP and PSAB standards.

You will report to the Executive Director and influence senior management decisions while fostering collaboration across government departments. Strong accounting credentials and leadership experience are essential.

Qualifications

• University degree in business, commerce, or public administration.
• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA).
• Progressive financial management experience in a large organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and mentor budget and financial staff.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, year-end audit, and reporting.
• Manage operational budget submissions and third-party cost sharing.
• Provide leadership in policy development and briefing material.
• Ensure GAAP/PSAB compliance and sound financial management.
