The Métis Nation–Saskatchewan is seeking a Director of Communications to lead the Communications and Citizen Engagement department from Saskatoon. The role guides vision, governance, performance, and engagement across government relations, storytelling, events, and creative services, ensuring alignment with MN-S priorities and citizen trust.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communication, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years in communications management with 5+ years leading teams.
  • Experience leading campaigns aligned with strategic goals.
  • Experience in government, Indigenous, or public-sector communications.
  • CMP or SCMP is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead distinctions-based communications planning and measurable objectives.
  • Advise senior leadership on issues, public perception, and change initiatives.
  • Oversee reputation and crisis management, and incident response readiness.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment across communications, engagement, storytelling, and operations.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and departmental performance reporting.
