Job summary

Government of Alberta seeks a data analytics expert to design and deliver analytical data products and services across ministries. You will apply modelling, de-identification, synthetic data, and visualisations to enable evidence-based decision making.

Within a cross-functional team, you will lead analytics initiatives, coordinate with clients, and help transform data assets into actionable insights for Albertans. A strategic role focused on data as a valuable asset.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-on support, leadership, advice and direction on the strategic data initiatives that are being undertaken as part of the Data Strategy.
• Coordinate with internal and external clients to understand analytics needs and how to use data to meet them.
• Anticipate, identify and respond to diverse data analytic requirements across GoA departments and external organizations.
• Ensure services and deliverables evolve with user and business needs, design and technical opportunities.
• Work with the Manager Analytics Capability Centre to develop analytical models and products.
• Drive continuous improvement of analytics capacities and design analytic service offerings.
• Analyze and organize raw data for prescriptive and predictive modelling and build algorithms with business value.
• Support development of full-stack data analytics or AI applications as required.
• Provide expertise and leadership in the design and competition of analytic projects.
• Evaluate business needs, improve data quality, and design analytical tools for data services.
• Conduct complex data analysis with data engineers and analysts.
• Coach and mentor team members, fostering a client-centric approach and innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with senior management to promote data as a strategic asset and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Create and present options, roadmaps, frameworks, and models for analytics services to executives.
• Facilitate strategic conversations to align stakeholder goals and decisions.
• Develop outcomes, metrics, and indicators for success.
• Apply techniques and methodologies including ML, statistics, and data visualization to extract knowledge.
