Job summary

The Government of Alberta's Data Centre of Excellence is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Specialist to support the design and development of analytical data products and services that advance the Government of Alberta Data Strategy.

The successful candidate will apply machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, statistical analysis, data modelling, and advanced analytics to support government initiatives and improve services for Albertans.

Qualifications

6+ years of experience using statistical and computer languages such as R, Python, and SQL.
6+ years of experience building analytical and quantitative analysis models.
6+ years of experience preparing data for prescriptive and predictive modelling.
6+ years of experience with data analytics and data science approaches and methods, including complex statistical modelling.
6+ years of experience applying AI or ML to data science or analytics, including ML for anomaly detection, predictive monitoring, or AI-assisted data transformation and automation.

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on technical leadership for strategic data initiatives.
Work with stakeholders to understand analytical needs and determine how data can support objectives.
Identify opportunities for applying AI and ML to public-sector challenges.
Develop, train, evaluate, and implement machine learning models.
Create data collection, normalization, cleansing, and preparation processes.
