Job summary

Northern, based in London, Ontario, seeks a Fixed-term Controller to lead all accounting operations as a strategic partner to the VP of Finance & Operations. This 15-month contract covers maternity leave, with a hands-on role and a developed payroll/accounting team.

The position supports remote, hybrid, or in-office work arrangements, preferring proximity to London, ON for occasional in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in accounting/finance with at least 3–5 years in a Controller role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and COSO internal controls.
• Experience with QuickBooks and ERP systems (Enspire) and tax/compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own the full month-, quarter-, and year-end close cycles with consolidated statements.
• Lead financial reporting, analysis, and three-statement models.
• Oversee system administration for QuickBooks and Enspire integrations.
• Lead audits and manage tax schedules and SR&ED claims.
• Coach and mentor payroll and accounting teams; coordinate post-close integration.
