The City of Edmonton is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Analyst to join our team. What will you do?
- Provide expert advice and support for performance planning, monitoring, reporting, evaluation, documentation, and improvement across designated departments
- Implement and enhance the Enterprise Performance Management Framework
- Contribute to the development of corporate methodologies, templates, and tools for enterprise performance management, process improvement, and service reviews
- Collaborate with branches to plan, prioritize, and strategize performance management reviews and updates
- Conduct service reviews to identify potential areas of improvement
- Develop and present data-driven recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes
- Partner in the development of department/branch business strategies and plans, aligning them with the City's Strategic Planning Framework
- Align strategy and business planning with budget processes across the department and organization
- Actively participate in the development of strategies, work plans, and performance/progress monitoring and reporting
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of processes and practices related to strategy, business planning, performance management, risk management, policy, and change management
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications- Completion of a University degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Public Administration, Planning, or a related discipline. A graduate degree in these areas is preferable
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in:
- Working with performance measures and budgets
- Business process improvement
- Transform data to meaningful insights
- Conduct service reviews and implement recommendations
- Develop presentation and present to senior leaders
- Facilitate challenging conversations and lead to positive outcomes
- Strategic and operational business planning
- Business case development
Assets:
- Graduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Public Administration, Planning, or a related discipline
- Leadership and project management experience within a public sector environment
Skills required for success:
- Considerable knowledge and experience in developing, managing, and working with performance measures, including linkages to budget, strategic and business plans
- Considerable knowledge of strategic and business planning principles, policy development, and benchmarking and procedures for aligning performance measures with the department's business plan goals
- Significant knowledge of corporate priorities, strategies, and initiatives and associated timelines related to corporate reporting processes/protocols
- Advanced level knowledge of primary and secondary research methodology, including design and implementation, data collection, and trend and results analysis and presentation
- Significant skill and ability in project and process management, including the ability to effectively gather, synthesize, and analyze data
- Experience and skill in the use of analytics and data intelligence to support decision-making processes
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and express complex ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively, verbally and in written format
- Ability to integrate strategic planning into operational practice
- Skills and expertise in leading integrated interdisciplinary teams with demonstrated results in collaborative business strategy development
- Ability to build effective working relationships with all levels of management and provide advice to senior leaders
- Ability to communicate, persuade and negotiate, and build consensus with people at varying levels

- This position works predominately in an office environment.
