Job summary

Strathcona County in Alberta seeks a Senior Advisor of Agriculture Initiatives to lead the Agricultural Framework, crafting strategic plans and programs to advance organizational goals. The role supervises the Agriculture Initiatives Team and ensures compliance with municipal, provincial and federal policies and legislation.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in relevant field with experience in agriculture/environmental work
• Knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal policies is an asset
• Eligible for designation as Agricultural Fieldman or related professional role

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of the Agricultural Framework and related programs
• Ensure programs comply with municipal, provincial and federal directives
• Coordinate cross‑department relationships to share leadership of the framework
• Contribute to design and delivery of branch programs supporting the framework
• Coordinate linkage with provincial opportunities and engage appropriate parties
• Facilitate public meetings and present to groups on agriculture
• Oversee operating expenses and participate in annual budget planning
• Promote safe work practices and supervise the Agriculture Initiatives Team
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding and performance management
• Direct consultants/contractors and ensure compliance with policies
• Provide accurate technical information to the public and other jurisdictions
• Liaise with different orders of government and stakeholders
