Job summary

Cleveland Doan LLP invites an associate with 1–5 years of strata property law to cover maternity leave, primarily assisting senior counsel in drafting bylaws and resolutions and providing opinions on Land Title matters. You will advise strata corporations on governance and bylaw interpretation and help owners with Civil Resolution Tribunal claims as needed.

Job description

Interested in finding out what strata property law is all about? If so, we have an opportunity to do that while covering a maternity leave.

We are seeking a lawyer with one to five years of experience to join our growing strata practice group on a one-year contract (with the prospect of an extension).While the successful candidate would be expected to do a variety of things, they would primarily assist senior counsel in the drafting of bylaws and resolutions, preparing legal opinions on various issues and various Land Title matters related to strata lots. In addition to this, they will help in providing our strata corporation clients with advice on governance, bylaw interpretation and other matters strata corporations encounter. There will also be opportunity to advise individual owners with respect to problems they are having with their own strata corporations, including assisting them with Civil Resolution Tribunal Claims when necessary.

The successful candidate will have strong writing and drafting skills along with excellent analytical abilities. Experience with Land Title procedures is an asset.Being called to the British Columbia bar is a requirement.
