Job summary

JRoss Recruiters seeks a Store Leader to oversee all facets of a high-volume flagship store in Winnipeg, Canada. You will drive sales, service, payroll, inventory, logistics, and safety while building a robust leadership bench and customer-focused culture.

Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience within a large-format, high-volume retail operation.
  • Experience managing a complex location with multiple departments.
  • Experience leading large teams, ideally 200–300+ employees.
  • Strong knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, freight flow, logistics, payroll, and financial performance.
  • Hands-on leadership style with high visibility and engagement across the store.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of store operations across sales, service, payroll, inventory, logistics, merchandising, safety, and profitability.
  • Inspire and develop a large team through coaching and accountability.
  • Build a customer-first culture with a welcoming, knowledgeable, and consistent experience.
  • Oversee high-volume freight flow, receiving, replenishment, inventory accuracy, and back-of-house operations.
  • Partner with senior leadership to launch and refine flagship store concept.
  • Establish operating standards and best practices for future locations.
  • Lead the team through change, growth, and evolving priorities while maintaining engagement.
  • Ensure the store is well organized, fully stocked, and consistently ready to serve customers.
  • Analyze business results, identify trends, and develop action plans to improve performance.
  • Maintain high standards of workplace safety, loss prevention, regulatory compliance, and asset protection.
  • Build a strong leadership bench through recruitment, succession planning, coaching, and development.
  • Create an inclusive, collaborative environment where employees feel valued and motivated to contribute.

Job description

  • Lead all aspects of store operations, ensuring strong performance across sales, service, payroll, inventory, logistics, merchandising, safety, and profitability.
  • Inspire, develop, and engage a large team of approximately 300 employees through clear expectations, visible leadership, coaching, and accountability.
  • Build a customer-first culture that delivers a welcoming, knowledgeable, and consistent experience throughout the store.
  • Oversee high-volume freight flow, receiving, replenishment, inventory accuracy, and back-of-house operations.
  • Partner with senior leadership and support teams to successfully launch and refine the flagship store concept.
  • Establish operating standards, routines, and best practices that can be replicated across future locations.
  • Lead the team through change, growth, and evolving business priorities while maintaining engagement and operational stability.
  • Ensure the store is well organized, fully stocked, appropriately staffed, and consistently ready to serve customers.
  • Analyze business results, identify trends and opportunities, and develop clear action plans to improve performance.
  • Maintain high standards of workplace safety, loss prevention, regulatory compliance, and asset protection.
  • Build a strong leadership bench through recruitment, succession planning, coaching, and ongoing development.

Requirements
  • Significant leadership experience within a large-format, high-volume retail operation.
  • Demonstrated success managing a complex location with multiple departments.
  • Experience leading large teams, ideally within an operation of 200 to 300 employees or more.
  • Strong knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, freight flow, logistics, merchandising, payroll, and financial performance.
  • Proven ability to build accountability and consistently deliver operational and customer service results.
  • A hands-on leadership style with the ability to remain highly visible and engaged across the store.
  • Strong business judgment, problem-solving skills, and comfort making decisions in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience leading through growth, change, store openings, renovations, or operational transformation would be an asset.
  • Background with a major retailer, mass merchant, home improvement business, warehouse-style operation, or similarly complex environment is highly transferable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate, and align employees at all levels.
  • Flexibility to work a retail schedule based on the needs of the business.
