Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Oversee daily store operations, supervise employees, and manage inventory.
  2. Ensure staff levels meet operational needs; recruit quality team members, provide training, and build talent.
  3. Coach and mentor with respect and kindness to create a positive working environment and strong team culture for both staff and customers.
  4. Communicate effectively with all team members to inspire and motivate them to be customer obsessed, building loyalty, with solid collaboration within the team.
  5. Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  6. Conduct timely performance reviews, make recommendations for pay increases and promotions. Provide performance counseling, conduct terminations when necessary, as established by the company.
  7. Prepare payroll timesheets and work schedules.
  8. Act as the liaison between management and team members.
  9. Maximize sales by implementing upselling and merchandising programs; create successful sales strategies to grow profitability, ensure product mix and inventory levels are maintained, priced, and displayed.
  10. Review and analyze the store’s financial statements to monitor yearly trends and utilize proactive/preventative measures when necessary if underperforming.
  11. Submit daily/weekly reports, handle deposits, and balance deliveries/inventory.
  12. Responsible for maximizing net after selling by increasing sales, controlling expenses, managing shortages, and improving gross profit.
  13. Create a positive public brand image by maintaining an appealing appearance of the store inside and out.
  14. Coordinate maintenance of equipment.
  15. Ensure all employees operate in accordance with established health and safety policies, practices, and procedures, and that the store has a current health and safety representative in place.
  16. Confirm compliance with all local, provincial, and federal laws and company policies and procedures.
  17. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by management and meeting deadlines.
Education & Experience

Post-secondary education combined with a minimum of one year of QSR/retail/grocery service industry management/supervisor experience, or approximately 3 years of previous management/supervisor experience in the same industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills, Qualifications, and Travel
  • Demonstrated effective employee training, coaching, and conflict management experience.
  • Highly motivated with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-oriented team player.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for bank deposits and travel between stores.
  • Strong communication skills—must be able to read, write, and comprehend English to understand reports, memos, documents, manuals, etc.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Store leaders may be required to transfer to another store within the market to support operational needs.
Physical Requirements

The ability to multi-task, perform repeated bending, standing, reaching, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. These physical requirements are bona fide occupational qualifications, and individuals with disabilities protected under the Canada Human Rights Act that prevent them from performing these tasks may not be suitable for this role.

Decision Making & Problem Solving

Requires the ability to make decisions related to daily store operations, staffing, performance management, employee development, expense control, product mix, and merchandising.
