Job summary

Kibbi is seeking a reliable carpenter in Surrey, Canada to join our field teams. You will read blueprints, measure and cut wood and other materials, and build foundations, walls and roof components for diverse projects.

Experience ranges 1 year to less than 2 years. You will estimate costs, prepare layouts per building codes, schedule site work, and ensure safety with accurate workmanship and strong communication with crew and clients.

Qualifications

• 1 year to less than 2 years of carpentry experience.
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Knowledge of building codes and layouts.
• Estimate costs and materials for projects.
• Physically capable of handling a large workload and performing demanding tasks.
• Criminal record check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Prepare tenders and quotations
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
• Survey building locations and levels
• Estimate costs and materials
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
