Job summary

Lassonde seeks a Steam Engineer Class 3 to ensure safe, reliable operation of plant utilities including boilers, HVAC, water treatment and fire protection.

You will support maintenance, coordinate contractors, and ensure compliance with BC Safety Standards. The role covers shifts across day, afternoon, and graveyard with a focus on safe, efficient plant operation in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate, monitor, and maintain steam boilers, hot water boilers, and associated utility equipment to ensure reliable plant operations.
• Oversee building HVAC, refrigeration, and climate control systems, coordinating with certified contractors as required.
• Operate and maintain water filtration systems to meet plant quality requirements.
• Provide maintenance support and technical assistance for utilities (steam, water, air, gas, etc.) utility distribution and plumbing systems.
• Operate and maintain the plant and warehouse fire protection systems.
• Ensure compliance with all codes and regulations issued under the BC Safety Standards Act and the BC Safety Authority.
• Serve as Relief Chief Steam Engineer when required.
• Oversee and provide assistance to contractors when they are performing work relevant to the department.
• Maintain the Boiler Rooms and other areas of responsibility in a tidy, clean and orderly condition conforming to HACCP requirements.

You will support maintenance activities, ensure regulatory compliance, coordinate contractors, and help maintain reliable operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Required Training And Experience

• 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Certification and/or experience as a millwright or pipefitter would be an asset.

Specific Conditions To The Position

• Valid 3rd Class Steam Engineer's Certificate of Competency issued by the Government of the Province of British Columbia, or an Inter-Provincial Red Seal.

• Flexibility to work day, afternoon, and graveyard shifts.
