Job summary

University of Manitoba is seeking a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Seminar Leader for ENG 1440 A01 in the Civil Engineering department. The appointment runs January 11, 2027 to April 16, 2027, with 6–12 hours weekly and a total of 156 hours.

The position pays hourly, with undergraduate and graduate rates, and requires lab/office hour availability. Ideal candidates have familiarity with ENG 1440 content, strong English, and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Attends orientation, planning and coordinating meetings as scheduled for staff in the course.
• May attend lectures and other sessions of instruction in the course.
• Consults with the employment supervisor for direction on assigned responsibilities.
• Prepares instructional materials such as handouts, assignments, problem sets, tests and presents to students in tutorials, laboratories or seminars.
• Marks student work including the tutorial, lab or seminar assessments and major exams.
• Consults with students by maintaining posted consultation times and offering additional assistance as needed.
• May initiate information to students about assignment problems or misinterpretations.
