Job summary

The University of Manitoba invites applications for a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Seminar Leader for MECH 2262 in CUPE 3909 Unit 1 (Students). The appointment runs Jan 7 to Apr 12, 2027 with a total of about 96.72 hours at undergraduate rates of $21.82 per hour (plus vacation pay).

Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, assisting in tutorials and labs, marking student work, and providing weekly office hours.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with MECH 2262 course content and/or successful completion of MECH 2262 preferred.
• Strong English language skills.
• Ability to engage students in a positive learning environment.
• Ability to provide regular office hours to students.

Responsibilities

• Attend orientation, planning and staff meetings.
• May attend lectures and sessions of instruction.
• Consult with supervisor for direction on duties.
• Prepare instructional materials (handouts, assignments, tests) and present to students.
• Mark student work in tutorials, labs or seminars.
• Provide regular consultation with students and be available for extra help.
• Perform related duties such as adaptation of audio-visual material or lab prep.
• May substitute for other teaching staff as needed.
