Job summary

SSP Group Canada operates several restaurants within Edmonton International Airport, including Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Upper Crust, Boston Pizza and Tap & Pour. This Barista position is located in a secure airport environment and requires RAIC documentation.

You will greet guests, process orders, prepare beverages, follow recipes, maintain cleanliness, and ensure accurate cash handling in a fast-paced setting. This role emphasizes teamwork and excellent service.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months experience working in food service environment.
• Verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Experience in dealing with problems involving customer service.
• Basic mathematical skills for cash register operations.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Process orders and enter them accurately into the POS system.
• Receive payment from the customer and process change.
• Serve hot, cold drinks and food items to guests.
• Follow recipes and practice portion control to prepare and present items.
• Complete opening, ongoing, and closing checklists as required.

This position is located in a secure airport environment and aRestricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)is required. All candidates must be legally authorised to work in Canada and must be able to provide the necessary government‑issued documentation required for airport security clearance. Documentation will be reviewed during the onboarding process in accordance with Transport Canada regulations. Here are a few things you can expect as a Barista:

• Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Process orders and enter them accurately into the POS system.
• Receive payment from the customer and process change.
• Serve cold, frozen, and hot drinks as well as a wide variety of food items to guests.
• Follow all recipes and practice portion control to prepare, garnish, and present ordered items.
• Complete opening, on‑going, and closing checklists as required.
• Perform general and specific cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Other Requirements

• Minimum six months experience working in food service environment
• High school diploma preferred.
• Verbal and written communication
• Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Experience in dealing with problems involving customer service.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, etc.
• Food handlers permit as required by law.
• Brand Certification as required.
• Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
• Ability to operate a keyboard & point of sale procedures to pre-check an order & close out a check.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long period of time.
