Advanced Care Group of Companies (ACG) / Advanced Home Care Solutions Inc.

Program: Community Living BC (CLBC) funded staffed residential services

Employment type: Part-time / Casual

Wage range: $27.25 - $29.00 per hour

ABOUT US

Advanced Care Group of Companies (ACG) is a Canadian RN-led, women-owned healthcare staffing and services organization founded in 2011. We deliver person-centred care and support across British Columbia. Our West Kelowna staffed residential home supports an adult with developmental disabilities to live safely, with dignity, and as independently as possible in her own home and community.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Staffed Residential Support Worker provides direct, hands-on support to the individual living in the home. This includes daily living, personal care, health, and nutrition, all in line with her Person-Centred Plan, Behaviour Support Plan, and health and dietary protocols.

This role is for an experienced, dependable care professional who works independently, communicates clearly, and holds herself to a high standard of care, documentation, and professionalism.

CLIENT ENGAGEMENT – A CORE EXPECTATION

Please note that active client engagement is an essential part of this role, not an optional extra. Staff are expected to interact with the individual throughout every shift: conversation, shared activities, encouragement, and participation in her daily routines, interests, and goals. Being present in the home is not enough. Staff must stay attentive, involved, and focused on the individual at all times. Personal phone use, passive supervision, or disengagement during shifts does not meet the expectations of this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal Care and Daily Living
  • Provide respectful, dignified assistance with personal care, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and continence care
  • Support routines for sleep, hygiene, and daily living according to the care plan
  • Encourage independence and choice in all daily activities
Nutrition and Meal Preparation
  • Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals following strict dietary plans and restrictions (e.g., texture modification, allergen control, therapeutic or medically prescribed diets)
  • Prepare meals that reflect the individual's established cultural and personal food preferences, including Western-style home cooking (e.g., roasted meats and vegetables, casseroles, soups, baked dishes, sandwiches, and breakfast foods)
  • Follow safe food handling, storage, labelling, and kitchen sanitation practices consistent with FoodSafe standards
  • Record food and fluid intake as required
Health and Medication Support
  • Administer or assist with medications according to the home's medication policy and the Medication Administration Record (MAR)
  • Monitor health, report changes promptly, and follow health care protocols
  • Attend and support medical, dental, and specialist appointments, including safe transportation using your personal vehicle
Behaviour Support and Safety
  • Implement Behaviour Support Plans consistently, using positive, least-restrictive approaches
  • Recognize escalation early and apply de-escalation techniques
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, critical incidents, and first aid situations
  • Complete incident reports in line with CLBC and Community Care Licensing requirements
Household and Documentation
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home, including laundry, cleaning, and household tasks
  • Complete accurate, timely, and objective shift notes, logs, and reports
  • Manage the individual's funds responsibly where applicable and keep receipts according to policy
  • Participate in shift handovers, team meetings, and required trainings such as DOTs related to the role
Community Inclusion (optional - as needed)

The role may, at times, include supporting community outings, activities, recreation, and social connections based on the individual's interests and goals. Candidates who are able and willing to support it are strongly preferred.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (all mandatory)
  • Must be a woman (bona fide occupational requirement – see above)
  • Health Care Assistant (HCA) certificate from a recognized program, or similar such as HSW/PSW
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C (current)
  • Direct experience in CLBC type support clients (staffed residential, home share, or similar developmental disability support)
  • Fluent and well spoken and written English, needed to communicate clearly with the individuals
  • Valid BC driver's licence (Class 5 or equivalent) with a clean driving abstract
  • Reliable personal vehicle
  • Proven ability to prepare meals from scratch and follow strict dietary guidelines exactly - clients are medically sensitive
  • Successful Criminal Record Check
  • Up-to-date immunization records and TB screening as required
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
STRONGLY PREFERRED (not mandatory)
  • Community Inclusion (CI) experience within CLBC services
  • Willingness to support community inclusion activities and outings
ASSETS
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or equivalent de-escalation training
  • Medication administration training
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
  • Compassionate, patient, and respectful of each person's dignity, rights, and choices
  • Highly reliable and punctual, with a strong commitment to consistency of care
  • Able to work independently, make sound decisions, and stay calm under pressure
  • Maintains confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Detail-oriented in documentation and in following protocols
BONA FIDE OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT STATEMENT

In accordance with sections 11 and 13(4) of the BC Human Rights Code, ACG has determined that being a woman is a bona fide occupational requirement for this position. This requirement is based on the intimate personal care the role involves and on the need to protect the privacy, dignity, and well-being of the individual supported. Applications from candidates who do not meet this requirement cannot be considered for this posting.

ACG is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds for our other positions.
