Job summary

Amplitude is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to work on Nova, our real-time OLAP engine. You’ll span query planning, columnar storage, distributed compute, caching, and cloud infrastructure, delivering high-throughput, cost-efficient analytics at scale for thousands of product teams globally.

You will mentor engineers, influence architectural direction, and collaborate with Product, Middleware, Data Pipeline, and other teams to translate capabilities into customer value.

Qualifications

• Experience building or extending analytical/OLAP systems such as query engines or large-scale data processing frameworks.
• Production cloud infrastructure experience (AWS) with cost/performance tradeoffs.
• Strong CS fundamentals: distributed systems, data structures, concurrency, and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve core Nova query engine infrastructure across planning, storage formats, encoding, and caching.
• Drive cost and performance improvements, profiling JVM performance and memory management.
