Nubank in Toronto, Canada is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Lending Foundations platform. You will define long-horizon technical direction, build shared infrastructure, and shape how future lending products ship across Brazil, the US, Mexico, Colombia, and other markets.

You will operate at platform scale in a multi-level engineering group, mentoring senior engineers and aligning with product and business leaders to drive measurable impact on global lending expansion.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and evolving complex distributed systems or platform layers.
• Advanced knowledge of event-driven architectures and trade-offs for shared infrastructure.
• Strong background in a functional or JVM-based stack.
• Proven track record owning architectural vision for large domains or platforms.
• Ability to drive alignment on hard architectural decisions across multiple squads.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve platform architecture for Lending Foundations across countries.
• Build core services, decisioning primitives and integration patterns used by multiple teams.
• Lead cross-team architectural initiatives and ensure coherent platform evolution.
• Apply CQRS and event-driven patterns across the platform.
• Partner with product and business leaders to translate goals into platform roadmaps.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise the engineering bar through guidance and reviews.
