The University of Toronto's Acceleration Consortium seeks a Staff Scientist to advance SDL technologies and apply AI to autonomous experimentation. Based at the St. George campus in Downtown Toronto, you will lead independent research and collaborate with researchers and industry partners.

You will develop SDLs, design experiments, manage projects with industry partners, write proposals, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals. Strong publication record required.

Formación

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Biology, or equivalent.
  • Five to ten years of experience in research and development, preferably with significant experience in AI for self-driving labs.
  • Experience in AI for science.
  • Experience in the development of AI tools for self-driving labs.
  • Experience working with a Principal Investigator or as a Principal Investigator or as Project Director with responsibilities of managing, developing and executing a major research project in the area of AI and automation, including AI utilization in experimental planning, and workflow establishment for seamless integration of experiments and simulations.
  • Strong experience and expert knowledge of AI and automation.
  • Experience working with industry partners and on industry led research and development projects.
  • Strong experience presenting research at academic conferences.
  • Demonstrated record of academic and/or research excellence.

Responsabilidades

  • SDL and Automation Development: Developing SDL plans, designing instruments for automated synthesis and characterization, and procuring equipment.
  • Research Direction: Developing programs leveraging SDLs and calibrating models with data, predicting candidates with computational tools.
  • Tasks include: managing projects with industry partners, planning and budgeting, meeting partner requirements, presenting at conferences, and preparing manuscripts.
  • Other: supporting consulting services related to SDLs and organizing research-focused events.
