As a Staff Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting and guiding the successful execution of complex Food & Beverage projects. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle, contributing to project planning, design development, technical decision-making, and coordination across engineering, procurement, and construction functions. Your work will help ensure projects meet client expectations, regulatory standards, and Burns & McDonnell's commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.
The Staff Project Engineer will provide high-level direction to all engineering design efforts for both Design-only and Design-Build/EPC projects. Design-only work will support the full engineering scope required for traditional design-bid-build delivery, while Design-Build/EPC projects will encompass integrated engineering, procurement, and construction management activities. In this role, you will help establish design criteria, coordinate technical disciplines, support scope development, and ensure engineering deliverables are produced accurately and efficiently. You will also support project execution across the various manufacturing business lines while maintaining a primary focus on Food & Beverage facilities. Responsibilities include assisting with project schedules, budgets, risk assessments, technical reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination. You will contribute to problem-solving during design and construction, maintain strong communication across teams and clients, and help drive successful outcomes on time and within budget. The expected compensation range for this position is $105,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually, in compliance with Ontario's Pay Transparency requirements. Final compensation will be based on education, qualifications, prior experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
