Job summary

Shakepay is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to shape and evolve the internal developer platform across the organization. You will design foundational systems, automate workflows, and drive IaC/GitOps practices to enable teams to ship quickly and reliably.

You’ll mentor engineers, lead multi-team initiatives, and partner with leadership to improve platform reliability and developer velocity in a remote Canada-wide context.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps experience.
• Deep experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automated deployments.
• Experience building internal platforms or developer tooling.
• Experience with AI/LLMs to automate tasks.
• Strong system design and architectural thinking.
• Proven ability to lead multi-team technical initiatives.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ArgoCD, Helm, Datadog.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the architecture of Shakepay’s internal developer platform.
• Build foundational infrastructure supporting growing systems and teams.
• Develop internal tooling and automation to boost developer productivity.
• Implement IaC and GitOps practices across the platform.
• Build observability systems with monitoring, alerts, and dashboards.
• Design AI-powered internal tools and agentic workflows.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and performance in production.
• Partner with product and infrastructure teams to set best practices.
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and guide architectural decisions.
• Shape long-term direction of infrastructure and platform ecosystem.
• Contribute to incident response and resilience improvements.
