Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) invites applications from Registered Nurses/ODPs with a keen interest in perioperative care. Based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the role offers a rotational pathway with strong education support and a 36-hour week across early/late shifts, weekends and on‑call.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality care, maintaining records, and contributing to ongoing professional development through the dedicated Perioperative

Qualifications

• First Level Registered Nurse registered with the NMC or ODP registered with the HCPC with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience.
• Educated to degree level is desirable
• Evidence of continuing professional development is essential
• Post registration qualification/significant relevant experience in specialty is desirable
• Ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Practice within the legal & Ethical framework as established by NMC and National Legislation to ensure patient interests and wellbeing are met.
• Work within NHS Scotland governance and health and safety legislation, policy, guidelines and procedures.
• Empower patients to participate in decisions about their care with information and openness.
• Provide clinical leadership for assessment and programmes of person-centred care using available resources.
• Maintain patient records in line with NMC guidelines for records and record keeping.

We are interested in hearing from Registered ODP's/Nurses with a keen interest in perioperative care. As an essential part of our Theatre team, you’ll deliver high quality, clinically effective patient care at all times. We can offer you a varied surgical caseload due to our extensive Neurosurgical, Oral Maxillofacial, and Neuro-interventional radiology procedures that will help you develop your capabilities and experience and you’ll enjoy the real respect, rapport and effective working of a close-knit, highly skilled, multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for Registered Nurses/ODPs who demonstrate a commitment to undertake ongoing in-service training and development, which is fully supported by our dedicated Perioperative Clinical Educator. We offer excellent opportunities for personal development, for example, for newly qualified nurses we can offer a rotational program through our theatre suite, with an established supportive education program.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• Location based in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
• Shift pattern for this post are Monday to Sunday – early/late shift, weekends, on call
• Permanent Contract
• Full-time Position (36 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

• Work within the National Health Service (NHS), NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Legislation, Policy, Guidelines and Procedures.
• Empower patients to take responsibility for their health, well-being and future lifestyle by practising in an open transparent and inclusive manner, thereby ensuring patients have the relevant information to participate in decisions about their care
• Practice within the legal & Ethical framework as established by Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) and National Legislation to ensure patient interests and wellbeing are met.
• Work within the National Health Service (NHS), NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Legislation, Policy, Guidelines and Procedures.
