The Staff, Integrated Operations and Production Planning Engineer leads the integrated Shutdown, Turnaround, and Outage (iSTO) program for a major SAGD operating asset, developing and managing multi-year asset strategies, such as outage optimization, program level turnaround and major maintenance sequencing, and OPEX budgets exceeding $100 million. The primary focus of this position is to lead long-range planning strategies, including the development and optimization of multi-year outage, turnaround, and maintenance plans that support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Integrity and Operations/Production Engineering. The position also provides technical leadership through continuous improvement initiatives, mentorship, and collaboration to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. This position may require occasional travel to our site location(s).

What you’ll do

Lead the long-range planning strategy for a designated operating asset, developing, optimizing, and managing integrated 5-year Turnaround and Major Maintenance plans, schedules, and budgets to support asset reliability, operational readiness, and business objectives. Develop and optimize production loss forecasting models by integrating Reservoir, Development, Process, and iSTO data to support long-range outage planning, production forecasting, and business decision-making. Establish preliminary scope frameworks for future turnaround and major maintenance events, and manage approved changes through the iSTO Change Request process to ensure alignment with schedule, budget, and operational priorities. Optimize outage strategies and schedules to minimize production losses, improve execution efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance marketing volume forecast reliability. Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Asset Integrity, Production, Process, Reservoir, and Development teams to align long-range maintenance and outage plans with asset objectives. Identify and lead OPEX reduction, maintenance budget optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across CTCHO. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members, drawing on expertise in Operations, Maintenance, Asset Integrity, and Process Engineering. Engage and influence site and senior leadership through regular reviews, presentations, and cross-functional forums focused on long-range planning strategy, turnaround optimization, production loss mitigation, and business performance.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements: Legally authorized to work in Canada Bachelor’s degree in engineering and professional engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with APEGA. Minimum 12 years of engineering experience, preferably within the SAGD, oil sands, or broader oil and gas industry, including experience supporting operations, long-range asset strategies, maintenance, turnaround, or integrity program management activities. Broad technical knowledge across Asset Integrity, Process Engineering, Production Engineering, Facility Engineering, Management of Change (MOC), and Major Capital Projects. Strong analytical capabilities, including experience with data modeling, analysis, and visualization tools such as Power BI to support data-driven decision-making. Proven ability to influence and drive results across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Corporate Planning organizations in a fast‑paced, continuously evolving environment. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and leading cross‑functional discussions to achieve alignment and business objectives.
