Job summary

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Planner Maintenance Scheduler for OCT to develop and maintain construction schedules for projects within an operating SAGD facility. You will prioritize work, allocate resources, and plan for safety and efficiency to support OCT activities.

Job description

Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 09/06/2026 The Senior Planner Maintenance Scheduler, OCT, is responsible for developing and maintaining construction schedules for projects within an operating SAGD facility. This role ensures work is prioritized, resourced, and planned to support safe, efficient execution across OCT activities. Reporting to the Sr. Coordinator, Operations Project Execution, this position works closely with stakeholders, coordinators, OCT leads, construction teams, trades, and service providers to manage schedule priorities, identify constraints, communicate updates, and support outages and turnaround activities.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update OCT construction schedules for projects in an operating SAGD facility, including 7-day schedules, priority lists, progress updates, and schedule reports.
  • Review job plans, set priorities with key stakeholders, identify constraints, and resource-level schedules with support from the Sr. Coordinator and OCT Leads.
  • Coordinate with construction, maintenance, turnaround, commissioning, common services, and planning teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and support outages and turnaround activities.
  • Communicate schedule changes, risks, issues, and cross-shift updates clearly and consistently to stakeholders, coordinators, leads, and team members.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and collaborative work environment that reflects company values, supports team processes, and ensures work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and cost performance while supporting additional duties required to help OCT operate effectively as a team.
Who you are
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Minimum 8 years of maintenance experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Relevant post-secondary education or trade experience, such as pipefitting, welding, or a related discipline.
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute work safely and effectively in an operating environment.
  • Strong project management, planning, scheduling, organizational, and communication skills.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class5 driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver’s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
