Cover Genius is seeking a Staff Data Scientist for Generative AI on our Customer Ops Team. You will own the design and delivery of agentic AI systems handling complex, judgement-heavy work from automated claims decisions to customer operations and partner-facing products.

You will have hands-on experience bringing LLM-based and agentic systems from prototype to production, establish evaluation strategies, and shape engineering decisions.

Formación

• 8+ years in data science or ML, with 2–3 years shipping LLM-based systems.
• Deep expertise in LLM evaluation and error analysis.
• Strong Python engineering with agent and tool-use patterns.
• Track record influencing technical direction and mentoring engineers.
• Bachelor's degree; postgraduate degree/desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Design agentic AI systems and define boundaries, tools, contracts, and controls.
• Build evaluation foundation with ground-truth data and eval harnesses.
• Ship production AI components and lead error analysis for fixes.
• Influence engineering through design reviews and paired implementation.
• Raise AI capability across the organization with reusable guidance and tooling.
• Define and track metrics for each system and report progress to leadership.
• Identify opportunities to invest in agentic AI and run proofs of concept.
