Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking a Staff Embedded Software Engineer to own device software architecture for security panels, gateways and cameras, leading embedded C/C++ on Linux and guiding cross‑functional teams in a fast, agile environment.

You will integrate cellular, Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, Z‑Wave, Zigbee and Matter stacks with the Alarm.com cloud, connect on‑device sensors, mentor engineers, and help drive modern development practices across multiple projects.

Qualifications

8+ years of embedded software development on Linux.
Strong C/C++ proficiency on Linux-based platforms.
Deep expertise with Linux build toolchains (Yocto, buildroot, OpenWRT, or Android AOSP).
Experience with embedded connectivity technologies (LTE, Cat‑M, 5G, Wi‑Fi, Ethernet) and IoT protocols (Z‑Wave, Zigbee, Matter).
Ability to lead product‑level architecture decisions and multi‑project delivery.
Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

Own product-level architecture and technical direction for embedded C/C++ software across multiple projects.
Lead cross-functional delivery — coordinating with QE, SE, PM, and external partners.
Develop, test, and debug embedded software on Linux platforms for devices.
Integrate and validate connectivity stacks (cellular, Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, Z‑Wave, Zigbee, Matter) with cloud platform.
Integrate on‑device sensors into the embedded software stack and translate data into user‑facing features.
Mentor engineers and drive adoption of modern development practices.
