Job summary

RBC is seeking a Staff Cloud Security Engineer in Toronto to lead cloud security initiatives across RBC and Brewin Dolphin. You will design security services, implement automation using IaC, and improve reliability through SRE practices.

The role involves on-call rotations and collaboration with multi-tenant cloud environments in Canada. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in security architectures, 5+ years in Python/Java/Go, 5+ years with Azure/AWS, and strong experience with CI/CD pipelines

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing security architectures across cloud and/or security domains.
• 5+ years programming in Python, Java, or Go.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with Azure or AWS.
• 3+ years building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with IaC tools: ARM, CFN, Terraform.
• Experience with container technologies and platforms.
• Familiarity with modern Software Engineering, DevOps, and SRE practices.

Job description

What is the opportunity? The Cloud Security team is undertaking multiple initiatives as part of RBC's expansion to Brewin Dolphin, to improve Public Cloud Security across all tenants. In this role as a Staff Cloud Security Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions to enhance RBC & Brewin Dolphin's Cloud Security posture. You will also contribute to the developer experience and foster a culture that encourages best security practices.

What will you do?

• Establish core cloud security solutions across Brewin Dolphin's cloud environments.
• Design and build cloud security services using automation, TDD principles, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Implement SRE practices to enhance operational processes and reliability.
• Support all cloud security applications, configurations, and integrations, and be the cloud security subject matter expert in any IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS implementations.
• Assess all cloud patterns to ensure adherence to best security practices and controls.
• Develop security coverage reports to identify gaps and enhance the cloud security strategy.
• Lead and participate in delivering end-to-end integrated solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide after-hours support for critical systems.

What do you need to succeed?

Must haves:

• 5+ years of experience developing and implementing security architectures and/or engineering, with demonstrated breadth across cloud, and/or security domains.
• 5+ years of experience in Python, Java, Go, or any other modern programming language.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure or AWS.
• 3+ years of experience in building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
• In-depth knowledge of infrastructure as code tools like ARM, CFN, and Terraform.
• Experience working with container tools and platforms.
• Familiarity with modern Software Engineering, DevOps, and SRE practices
• Skilled with Terraform

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with observability tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, etc
• Experience with CSPM, DSPM, or ASPM tools.
• Knowledge of technical security control environments and compliance frameworks including CSA CCM, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and NIST CSF
