Job summary

Fivetran is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend to advance the Reverse ETL product line. You’ll integrate data activation across authentication, billing, data models, and UI as a senior member of a distributed, agile team.

This full-time role is based in Toronto or Oakland with a hybrid work model offering remote flexibility and in-person collaboration. You’ll work with a diverse group of engineers and product teams to deliver end-to-end features.

Qualifications

• Expertise in at least one interpreted language (Python, Ruby on Rails).
• Experience with at least one compiled language (C++, Java, Go, Kotlin, Scala).
• Strong relational database knowledge; Snowflake experience is a plus.
• Experience with API consumption and integration; cloud familiarity a plus.
• Familiarity with major cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the tech stack including Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Vue, and AWS.
• Prototype and test ideas quickly by iterating on specs and implementations.
• Collaborate with product teams, leaders, and customers to design features for data activation.
• Mentor junior engineers, review code, and promote best practices across teams.
