Job summary

MDD Forensic Accountants in Toronto is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team for May or September 2027 starts. The role supports the accounting team with sound technical knowledge and strong communication skills, able to work independently.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree (or master’s) with up to 3 years of experience and is working toward the CPA designation. A hybrid work model and collaboration with global offices are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree completed or near completion.
• Working toward the CPA designation (CPA).
• Up to 3 years of work experience post-degree.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary to intermediate analysis of sales, production and other accounting data.
• Observe physical inventory and perform price testing.
• Examine source documents relevant to engagements.
• Check and proof reports and schedules.
• Conduct interviews (phone/video/in-person) to obtain information.
• Research, data analysis and evaluation.
• Analyze invoices and related documents.
• Attend client marketing events and functions as needed.

Description

Our Toronto office is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team for May or September 2027.

MDD helps insurance companies, independent adjustment firms, multinational corporations, government entities, and individuals calculate the true economic damage of claims or disputes.

MDD is looking for a Staff Accountant to serve as an essential supporting function of the accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a sound technical background in accounting/finance, possess strong communication and analytical skills, and can work independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Preliminary to intermediate analysis of sales, production and other accounting data
• Physical inventory observation, price testing
• Examination of source documents pertinent to engagement
• Check and proof reports and schedules
• Conduct phone, video or in person interviews to obtain information
• Research, data analysis and evaluation
• Invoice analysis
• Attend marketing events and functions with clients

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Masters or upcoming graduate
• Working towards the Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA)
• Up to 3 years work experience (post degree)
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to problem solve
• Strong communication skills
• Able to work independently and as a team
• Must be able to work under pressure or tight deadlines
• Ability to understand a business and how loss events have impacted it
• Willingness to accept increasing responsibility as experience grows
