Job summary

Broadstreet Properties is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant in Winnipeg, MB to manage monthly financials, property accounting, and bank reconciliations within a collaborative mid-size team.

This role suits someone early in their accounting career seeking stability and support toward a CPA designation, or an experienced full-cycle accountant who enjoys hands-on work and strong benefits.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-identification and resolution skills with analytical thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work independently or in a team.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Interest in CPA designation is a strong asset.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure with a professional attitude.
  • ERP integration experience and Canadian regulatory & tax knowledge.
  • Digital literacy and comfort with technology-enabled processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain fiscal records and prepare monthly financial reports, including property accounting and bank reconciliations.
  • Lead complex calculations and financial transactions to ensure GL accuracy.
  • Ensure all transactions, accruals, adjustments and reconciliations are timely and accurate.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and year-end financial statements and working papers.
  • Review budgets and forecasts; analyze variances and report status to regional teams.
  • Maintain and update the Policies and Procedures Manual for accounting processes.
  • Build rapport with staff and Regional Managers to reflect operations accurately.
  • Stay current with regulations, tax laws and industry trends affecting financial statements.

A keen eye and attention to detail is a skill you pride yourself on. You are good with numbers and able to spot discrepancies quickly nothing gets past you! We are looking for an inquisitive, full-cycle Staff Accountant who loves to dig deeper to find the perfect solution.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their accounting career looking for stability, a strong benefits package, and on-the-job support while working toward a CPA designation or for someone experienced in full-cycle accounting who enjoys staying hands-on in a collaborative, mid-size team environment.

Your contributions to the team:
  • Manage the maintenance of fiscal records and prepare monthly financial reports, including property accounting and bank reconciliations.
  • Lead the completion of complex calculations and intricate financial transactions to ensure accuracy in the general ledger
  • Ensure all business transactions, accruals, adjustments, and account reconciliations are completed in a timely, accurate manner
  • Assist in preparing monthly and year-end financial statements, including all routine working papers and cost statements
  • Review budgets and financial forecasts, analyzing actual-to-budget report variances and communicating status updates to regional teams
  • Maintain and update the Policies and Procedures Manual for both routine and complex accounting transactions
  • Build strong rapport with internal staff and Regional Managers to ensure all transactions accurately reflect the organization’s operations
  • Remain current with all regulations, tax laws, and industry trends to understand their impact on the organization’s financial statements
What you need to be successful:
  • A Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of education and full-cycle accounting experience will be considered
  • A high level of personal integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Strong problem-identification and resolution skills with a logical approach to analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a general understanding of computerized accounting systems or ERPs
  • An interest in or active pursuit of a CPA designation is a strong asset
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet defined deadlines while maintaining a positive, professional attitude

You will be eligible to receive salary range of $56,800.00 to $71,000.00 per annum, this will be determined by your skill set, education and experience.
