Senior Director Human Resources | HR Executive

Position Title: Staff Accountant

Duration: One-Year Contract

Location: MTL Cannabis – Onsite

We are looking for a meticulous and proactive accountant to join our finance team during this critical growth phase. This position is aimed at supporting the increased workload, ensuring accurate and timely financial processes, and contributing to the overall success of the team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Reconciliations
   • Verify and reconcile deposits.
   • Perform tax reconciliations.
2. Accounts Payable (AP)
   • Collaborate with procurement teams to match purchase orders (PO) with received inventory.
   • Generate and process invoices for approved POs.
   • Participate in AP workflows and ensure timely payments.
3. Reporting and Compliance
   • Assist with reporting by reconciling opening and closing balances in QuickBooks.
   • Maintain and update the list of product SKU codes in QuickBooks.
4. Audits and Documentation
   • Prepare for CRA audits and maintain compliance records.
   • Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation for internal and external reviews.
5. Team Support
   • Provide timely support to the medical finance team and help manage workload.
   • Assist the payroll specialist with payroll execution during absences or periods of high workload.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions.
• Experience in various aspects of accounting.
• Ability to manage tasks for multiple entities.
• Payroll experience is an asset.

Skills

• Strong attention to detail for reconciliations and reporting.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 50).
