Iron Eagle, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is looking for a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in managing accounts payable, supporting the Director of Finance, and collaborating with the inventory team to ensure accurate financial and operational reporting. This role includes learning from senior accounting professionals and the Inventory Manager to develop a well-rounded understanding of financial and inventory management processes.

What you will be doing:

  • Accounts Payable Management
    • Process and verify invoices, ensuring proper coding, approval, and timely payment.
    • Maintain and reconcile the accounts payable ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Manage vendor relationships and address payment-related inquiries.
    • Prepare and process payments (cheques, wire transfers, ACH, etc.).
    • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Supporting the Director of Finance
    • Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
    • Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations as requested by the Director of Finance.
    • Help monitor cash flow and ensure timely payment schedules.
    • Support the implementation of financial policies and internal controls.
  • Learning and Development with Senior Accountant
    • Work alongside the Senior Accountant to gain skills in preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and month-end close activities.
    • Learn to manage accruals, prepayments, and general ledger reconciliations.
    • Assist in compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, GST, or other filings.
    • Support audit preparation and learn to improve internal financial controls.
  • Collaboration with Inventory Manager.
    • Work with the Inventory Manager to understand inventory costing methods, including FIFO and weighted average.
    • Assist in reconciling inventory records with the accounting system.
    • Support the Inventory Manager in preparing inventory valuation reports for financial reporting.
    • Learn to analyze stock movement, shrinkage, and discrepancies.
    • Gain experience in integrating inventory data into financial processes to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting
    • Reconcile the accounts payable sub-ledger and inventory accounts with the general ledger.
    • Generate accounts payable aging reports and inventory valuation reports.
    • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate financial data.
  • Administrative and Compliance Support
    • Maintain organized and accurate financial and inventory records.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations for accounts payable and inventory management.
    • Assist in preparing schedules and documentation for audits.
Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1–2 years in accounts payable, general accounting, or inventory management (internship experience considered).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAGE, IndustriOS) and strong Excel skills
  • Key Competencies: Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong organizational skills.
  • Soft Skills: Eagerness to learn, collaboration, and effective communication skills.
