Sr. Staff Accountant is a detail-oriented and proactive team member responsible for executing and continuously improving the core finance and accounting processes that support the company’s operational success. This role reports to the Controller and plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of day-to-day financial functions, supporting month-end close, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to system and process efficiencies.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a dynamic environment and takes pride in accurate, timely work. They will be committed to operational excellence and open to evolving systems and processes, particularly through leveraging technology and enhancing our ERP system, Sage Intacct. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential, as the role requires interaction across departments and with external partners.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Manage the monthly close process, ensuring all entries, reconciliations, and schedules are completed accurately and on time.
  • Drive continuous improvement of our ERP system (Sage Intacct) by identifying automation opportunities and championing the use of technology to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor financial trends and apply appropriate accounting practices to support consistency, compliance, and business decision-making.
  • Manage accounts receivable and invoicing, including job setup, order entry, and billing for capital jobs.
  • Deposit incoming checks and accurately post payments to ensure timely and accurate accounts receivable tracking.
  • Process staff expenses and credit card transactions, ensuring timely reconciliation and payment.
  • Administer accounts payable, including invoice posting and preparation of bi-monthly payment runs.
  • Reconcile bank accounts regularly and ensure accurate recording of deposits and EFT payments.
  • Handle compliance documentation and portal updates across various third-party systems as required by client needs.
