Job description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation and management of client invoicing, tracking payments, and ensuring accuracy across multiple revenue streams. This role acts as a liaison between client accounting contacts and VERB’s internal departments. Additionally, the Staff Accountant is responsible for:

What You Will Do
  1. Manage accounts receivable and client billing, including setting up new clients in QuickBooks, receiving statements of work, updating billing master sheets, and collaborating with team members to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
  2. Meet with department heads or leadership to ensure all client revenue streams are invoiced and update billing information as needed.
  3. Ensure adherence to billing processes throughout the organization, including communicating with teams regarding billing for client events.
  4. Utilize client software platforms such as SAP Ariba and BILL.com to manage procurement and invoicing processes.
  5. Act as a liaison between VERB’s internal teams and the client’s accounting or marketing teams to resolve invoicing and billing issues, requiring effective communication with all management levels.
  6. Assist with financial reporting at the client level, such as providing year-to-date billing totals to support client budget management.
  7. Support financial reporting on special projects and internal corporate reporting.
  8. Collaborate with Accounting and other teams to share best practices and address financial inquiries.
  9. Prepare periodic account reconciliations and internal financial reports.
  10. Identify and implement process improvements to streamline invoicing, payments, and financial reporting.
Minimum Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in business administration with a focus on accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong computer skills.
  • Expertise in accounting principles and revenue recognition.
  • Comfortable communicating with C-suite executives.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Strong critical thinking and questioning skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of SAP Ariba, BILL.com, and QuickBooks Online is an asset.
