This position will be on-site at our Courtice location, assisting senior staff and/or partners/managers on assignments and projects, including the completion of assigned tasks and project components. What would you be doing?

A Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with general ledger accounting, preparing financial accounts, conducting monthly account opening and closing, and preparing balance sheets. Demonstrates initiative in understanding process flows and controls.

  • Perform audit duties at a junior level, examining and analyzing journal and ledger entries, bank statements, inventories, expenditures, tax returns, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Assist in compilation, review, and audit engagements.
  • Complete procedures for general accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, statistical and account analysis, inventory observations, and depreciation schedule updates.
  • Prepare corporate, personal, and trust income tax returns.
  • Prepare tax slips (T3, T4, T5, etc.).
  • Handle bookkeeping assignments.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Develop strong technical audit, accounting, and tax skills.
  • Deliver services to high standards.
  • Manage multiple client requests efficiently and timely.
Who is our ideal candidate?
  • Post-secondary graduate in Commerce/Accounting.
  • Currently pursuing CPA designation.
  • Entry-level technical knowledge and skills.
  • Knowledge of general ledger, accounting, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with Caseware/Caseview and TaxPrep is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
