Job summary

BRP, based in Valcourt, Quebec, is seeking a Mechanical Design Technician to join the SSV engineering team. You will design, develop and validate mechanical systems for recreational vehicles, producing drawings for manufacture and managing BOMs.

The role collaborates with designers and engineers, monitors prototypes, and tracks project progress. The position requires a college diploma in mechanical engineering and strong 3D visualization skills, with GD&T proficiency and experience in CATIA V5,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the plastics industry and plastic part design.
• Strong mechanical sense and good 3D visualization skills.
• Proficient in Catia V5, Smarteam and SAP; GD&T knowledge.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Technician to join our SSV engineering team. Reporting to the Chief Designer, Vehicle Engineering, you will play a key role in the design, development, and validation of various mechanical systems for recreational vehicles.

You'll Have The Opportunity To

• Produce the technical drawings required for the manufacture of new vehicles;
• Participate in component development and monitor prototype manufacturing;
• Collaborate in the problem-solving process with the team's designers and engineers;
• Create tracking files to optimize project progress.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs);
• Coordinate workload distribution and task assignment within a team of designers.

YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES

• Hold a college diploma in mechanical engineering;
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the plastics industry and plastic part design;
• Have a keen sense of mechanics and good 3D visualization skills;
• Be proficient in software such as Catia V5, Smarteam and SAP;
• Excel in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards;
• Have creative solutions to the problems you encounter and are recognized for your ingenuity;
