Job summary

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario seeks a Senior Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to lead ultrasound imaging within Medical Imaging. You will provide high-quality imaging across obstetric, abdominal, small parts, and MSK areas, contributing to patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Completion of accredited ultrasound program or recognized equivalent.
  • Registration in good standing with CMRITO.
  • Current credentialed member of Sonography Canada.
  • Completion of a BCLS program.
  • Minimum two years experience as a DMS.
  • Experience in all ultrasound procedures listed (general, abdominal, OB/GYN, small parts, paediatric).
  • MSK experience is an asset; IPS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergent ultrasound procedures and document high-quality images.
  • Operate, troubleshoot and maintain ultrasound equipment and related imaging systems.
  • Prepare written and electronic reports for procedures and tests.
  • Work across shifts including standby to support patient care.
  • Collaborate with the diagnostic imaging team to ensure smooth workflow.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited degree/post diploma Ultrasound program, or recognized equivalent.
  • Registered in good standing with College of Medical Radiation & Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Current credentialed member of Sonography Canada.
  • Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program.
  • A minimum of two years experience working as a DMS
  • Experience demonstrating clinical competency in all aspects of ultrasound procedures required.
  • Experience in performing general, abdominal, obstetric, gynaecological,small partsand paediatric ultrasound examinations required.
  • MSK experience is an asset
  • IPS certification is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and emergency procedures in accordance with established methods as described in departmental Policies and Procedures manuals, while documenting high quality images. Including but not limited to abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts.
  • Experience in musculoskeletal, neurosonography, vascular imaging, as well as assisting in interventional procedures an asset.
  • Operate, troubleshoot and ensure ultrasound, medical imaging and ancillary equipment are performing in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Prepare written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results.
  • Ability to work all shifts including standby.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working condition, including maintaining the ultrasound and biopsy equipment inventory list and working with the manager to repair and order new equipment as required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to be an integral part of the diagnostic imaging team to ensure smooth workflow within the department as well between the department and other departments in the hospital.
