The Position

We are on the hunt for a Intermediate Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Processor Analyst at our Richmond, BC, Canada office, to be a part of the next generation of Earth Observations space missions.

From detecting changes in fragile ecosystems to monitoring northern ice floes and shipping routes, our near-real time Earth observation data makes our Geointelligence team a leader in geospatial imagery, ground stations, enterprise geospatial systems and defence programs. You will join our remote sensing team that has 30+ years of experience delivering projects such as RADARSAT-2, RapidEye, Sapphire, CASSIOPE, RADARSAT Constellation Mission, and the CHORUS Constellation of SAR satellites.

Role

This role is ideal for an ambitious professional eager to solve complex problems and develop innovative algorithms that contribute to global betterment. You will develop and improve synthetic aperture radar processors by creating novel signal processing algorithms to generate high-value imagery and real-time actionable intelligence for our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative signal processing algorithms to enhance SAR performance (resolution, swath width, Moving Target Indication, etc.);
  • Design, develop, maintain, and improve SAR processor models and prototypes using best practices in architecture and software development;
  • Participate in trade-off studies and find practical solutions for hardware implementation;
  • Investigate and troubleshoot signal processing errors or artefacts in SAR images;
  • Conduct system level analyses and develop performance prediction models;
  • Improve image quality and develop calibration plans for SAR missions;
  • Coordinate processing requirements with stakeholders;
  • Document algorithms and technical performance in clear reports;
  • Mentor and coach junior team members.
Required Experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field, or equivalent experience;
  • At least 3 years in an engineering or technical role, or relevant postgraduate degree;
  • Experience with complex signal processing systems (Radar, Medical Imaging, Sonar, etc.);
  • Knowledge of high-speed data analysis and transmission principles;
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++;
  • Self-motivated with adaptability to dynamic environments;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences;
  • Ability to work within large organizations and understand stakeholder needs.
Desired Experience
  • Postgraduate degree in a field related to complex signal processing;
  • Understanding of SAR remote sensing, system design, and calibration;
  • Knowledge of satellite SAR payload design and operations;
  • Experience with software development methodologies;
  • Experience with engineering life cycles and FPGA algorithm implementation;
  • Quick learner of new technologies and domain knowledge;
  • Strong understanding of geospatial data.
