Job summary

Nascent in Toronto is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who owns work from idea to production, shaping architecture and guiding the team to deliver web and native apps on a modern, flexible stack.

You’ll partner with Engagement Managers and Product Owners to turn roadmaps into technical delivery plans, mentor developers, and advocate for robust, elegant software while embracing shifting requirements. This in-office role values curiosity, collaboration and real-world impact.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building and shipping web and mobile applications.
• Strong knowledge of design patterns (MVC, MVVM, reactive programming, AOP) and architecture of complex systems.
• Experience with database design, REST APIs, and building UI using HTML/CSS, TailwindCSS, SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Curious thinker who loves learning and improving processes.
• Detail-oriented with focus on quality while keeping the big picture in mind.
• Candid and straightforward, enjoys debating ideas to reach the best answer.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who owns the work from idea to production; someone who sees what needs to be built, figures out the best way to build it, and makes it happen. You’ll partner with startups to shape and launch new ideas, and with enterprises to rethink how they deliver value to their customers, building web and native applications on a flexible tech stack. You plan the work, guide the technical direction, and support the team day to day, from shaping the architecture, unblocking a teammate, or reviewing code, to jumping in on whatever the moment calls for.

You don’t wait to be told what to do. When requirements shift, plans change, and unexpected problems come up, you assess the situation, adapt, and find the pragmatic solution. • You have 7+ years of experience building and shipping web and mobile applications, and a degree in computer science or a related field
• You know software design patterns and paradigms (MVC, MVVM, reactive programming, AOP) and can architect an application so the whole team can build it together
• You’re experienced with database design, building and consuming REST APIs, building user interfaces (HTML/CSS, TailwindCSS, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose), and deploying apps through CI/CD pipelines you build and maintain
• You’re a curious thinker who loves learning and constantly improves your processes, tools and techniques
• You’re detail-oriented and care deeply about quality, executing the fine details while keeping the bigger picture in mind
