Job summary

Canadian Solar Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a Sr. Service Technician to join the Service team.

You will commission SolBank Storage Power Block systems and perform preventive and corrective maintenance under LTSA agreements, with travel across Ontario as required. The role requires an Electrical Engineering background, 5+ years in service, knowledge of medium voltage and energy storage applications, and strong communication and ownership to drive safe, timely on-site work and subcontractor

Qualifications

• Educational background in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in a service environment, preferably renewable energy.
• Knowledge of general and national codes, medium voltage power systems, PV or energy storage applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with strong ownership; CMMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Commission SolBank Storage Power Block on CSI Energy Storage systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to meet warranty requirements.
• Provide onsite diagnostic, troubleshooting, and hands-on support for availability and capacity guarantees.
• Oversee and supervise subcontractors on site when required.
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures and processes.
• Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and switching procedures as needed.
• Analyze performance data to determine root cause and trends.

About the Role

In this role, you’ll play an integral part of the service team, primarily responsible for commissioning and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on SolBank Storage Power Block (SPB). You will also fulfill obligations under Long Term Service Agreements (LTSA’s) for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. A willingness to travel and perform tasks at various project sites throughout Ontario is required. Experience with BESS or renewable power generation equipment in a service environment is necessary.

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of SPBs to adhere to warranty requirements
• Provide onsite diagnostic, troubleshooting, and hands‑on support to maintain equipment and meet availability and capacity guarantees
• Oversee and supervise sub‑contractors on site when required
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures and processes
• Perform proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and switching procedures as needed
• Analyze performance data to determine root cause and performance trends

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Educational background in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a service environment, preferably in renewable energy
• Knowledge of general and national codes, medium voltage power systems, and photovoltaic or Energy Storage system applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment with a strong ownership mentality
• Previous experience with a CMMS software program is preferred
• Ability to travel to regional locations as needed (over 50% of the time)
