Job summary

Iris Software Inc. is recruiting for a Sr Python Engineer in Toronto, Hybrid, for a long-term contract. The role focuses on building scalable backend services in Python, with microservices architecture and CI/CD practices.

The ideal candidate will have strong Linux experience, databases (Oracle/PostgreSQL), MQ messaging, and familiarity with security concepts (TLS/SSL) and cloud technologies. Collaboration with vendors and cross-functional teams is required.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Python development experience, backend and microservices.
• Experience using AI/GenAI coding tools to support development, testing and productivity.
• Unix/Linux with Shell/Bash scripting experience.
• Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases experience.
• Messaging technologies such as MQ.
• Solid understanding of SDLC, design, development, testing, deployment and production support.
• DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines experience.
• Knowledge of TLS/SSL/HTTPS, firewalls and application/network security concepts.
• Experience collaborating with third-party vendors and cross-functional tech teams.
• Familiarity with Confluence, ServiceNow and SharePoint.
• Cloud technologies experience is a plus.

Required Skill
