The Role
Cognizant Consulting is seeking an experienced Consulting Manager (Sr. Project Manager) to lead strategic business and technology programs within the Banking and Financial Services sector, specifically focusing on risk and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to manage resources, build relationships with stakeholders, and provide domain oversight in this critical area. This role requires a collaborative individual who can translate complex solutions clearly and contribute to a positive team environment aligned with Cognizant's values and strategy.
Responsibilities
· Manage resources and lead the execution of strategic business and technology programs related to accounting, risk, and regulatory requirements.
· Develop and maintain effective relationships with implementation partners, technology and product vendors, and internal Cognizant teams to deliver high-quality client solutions.
· Provide domain expertise in financial risk and regulatory reporting, including the interpretation and implementation of new reporting rules and the analysis of updates.
· Present complex solutions in a clear, concise, and logical manner to various stakeholders.
· Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture aligned with Cognizant's values and strategic objectives.
· Foster interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups to maximize value for all stakeholders.
· Support the attraction, retention, and career development of talented team members.
· Contribute to team performance improvement, provide recognition and coaching, support employee development, and assist in performance improvement initiatives.
· Provide recommendations to senior leadership on strategy and new initiatives based on a strong understanding of the business.
· Network with industry contacts to stay informed on competitive insights and best practices.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 10 years of project management experience within the banking sector.
· Demonstrated hands-on experience in capital markets and risk compliance is essential.
· Consulting experience within the financial services domain is desirable.
· Proven experience working on enterprise-level projects, such as financial risk platform modernization (FRP), is preferred.
· A track record of business development, practice building, and thought leadership is desirable.
· Strong knowledge of Capital Markets, Risk (Credit Risk, Financial Risk), and relevant regulations (e.g., Basel, SCCL, CCAR / FR 2590, Large Exposures Framework) is preferred.
· Experience in leading and managing teams effectively, including planning analytical work, facilitating workshops, and developing technology/business strategy recommendations.
· Proven ability to develop detailed and analytical deliverables using PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Visio to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
· Ability to manage ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
· Experience working in agile projects, utilizing Jira, creating user stories, and a solid understanding of the agile framework.
· Must be able to work on-site at the client location in Toronto at least 3 days each week.
