Dematic is seeking a Senior Project Manager in Quebec, Canada to lead the delivery of high-value, strategic projects with budgets from $30M to $70M. You will guide cross-functional teams, manage risks, and ensure alignment with client expectations, acting as a strategic partner for customers.

The role requires extensive project management expertise, stakeholder engagement, and change leadership to sustain strong client relationships and successful outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Project Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration).
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desired.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in project management.
  • Experience managing highly complex, strategic, cross-functional projects.

This is an exciting, new role for Dematic to support additional workload!

The Senior Project Manager is entrusted with leading the delivery of the organization’s complex, high-value, and strategically critical projects, typically with a scope ranging from $30M-$70M. This senior-level position demands strong project leadership, cross-functional insight, and the ability to navigate complex environments with influence and precision.

The Senior Project Manager brings significant expertise in project management methodologies, stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, and change leadership. A key focus of this role is building and sustaining strong, trust-based relationships with customers. This role will serve as a strategic partner who ensures alignment between project outcomes and client expectations.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $120,000 - $140,000 CAD at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills

Tasks and Qualifications:
Project Initiation / Integration:
  • Lead the initiation and planning of highly complex, strategic projects, defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables in alignment with organizational goals and strategic objectives.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that encompass all necessary activities, resources, and timelines, utilizing advanced project management techniques and tools.
  • Establish and maintain project governance structures, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes.
  • Develop business cases and project charters, securing stakeholder buy-in and alignment.
Project Schedule and Resource Management:
  • Lead and motivate high-performing project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment mentoring project team members on project management best practices.
  • Develop and implement resource management plans, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization of project resources across multiple projects.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive integrated project plan using standard tools and methods that align with contractual requirements.
  • Manage dependencies between project tasks and activities, ensuring seamless integration and timely completion.
  • Monitor project progress, identify critical path activities, and implement corrective actions to maintain project schedules and budgets.
Stakeholder and Communication Management:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans, ensuring effective and timely communication with all stakeholders.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, proactively addressing concerns and resolving conflicts.
  • Provide regular project status reports to stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, and issues.
  • Facilitate project meetings, providing strategic guidance and decision support.
Negotiations and Contract Management:
  • Support negotiation of complex contracts and agreements with vendors and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Manage vendor performance, monitoring adherence to contractual obligations and resolving any issues or disputes.
  • Develop and implement contract management plans, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage change orders and contract modifications, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes.
Cost and Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage complex project budgets, ensuring adherence to approved funding levels.
  • Track project expenses, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to maintain budget compliance.
  • Develop and implement cost control measures, maximizing project value and minimizing waste.
  • Forecast project costs and resource needs, supporting accurate budgeting and financial planning.
  • Prepare financial reports and presentations for senior management and executive leadership.
Risk Mgt & Problem Solving
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, developing and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively identify potential problems and develop contingency plans to minimize impact on project deliverables.
  • Lead complex problem-solving efforts, facilitating collaborative solutions and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Escalate critical risks and issues to senior management, as appropriate, providing recommendations for resolution.
Skills & Capabilities
  • Expert knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire project teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex project issues.
  • Proficiency in using project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to project challenges.
  • Proven ability to mentor and coach project managers and other team members.
  • Deep understanding of organizational governance and decision-making processes.
Experience Desired

Direction and Key Working Relationships
  • Works independently with minimal supervision. Provides guidance and mentorship to Project Managers, Project Practitioners, and Associate Project Managers.
  • Internal: All Project Stakeholders, including senior management and executive leadership.
  • External: Interacts with external vendors, consultants, and clients, independently managing those relationships within the scope of assigned projects. Serves as a key point of contact for external project-related inquiries and represents the organization in external forums.
  • Travel: Up to 40% travel may be required to support project execution.
