Base pay range

CA$80.00/hr - CA$90.00/hr

The Project Manager (PM) leads cross-functional teams in a complex matrix environment to successfully deliver technical and business initiatives. Projects may follow either agile or waterfall methodologies depending on scope and requirements. The PM ensures effective planning, execution, governance, and delivery while enabling strong collaboration between technology, business, and external partners.

Overview

Project Manager responsibilities include leading planning, execution, control, and stakeholder engagement to deliver initiatives on time, within scope, and with quality.

Responsibilities
  • Project Planning: Identify required resources and assemble cross-functional teams; assign roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop detailed project plans including scope, milestones, schedules, budgets, resource plans, quality plans, and success criteria.
  • Prepare all required governance documentation and approvals.
  • Establish communication plans and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Project Execution: Oversee day-to-day activities to ensure deliverables meet timelines, quality standards, and business expectations.
  • Manage risks, issues, and dependencies with proactive mitigation.
  • Lead teams in a matrix environment, providing direction, clarity, and support.
  • Adhere to established project management standards, processes, and controls.
  • Project Control & Reporting: Use formal reporting, change management, and control mechanisms to manage scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Provide timely updates to sponsors and senior leadership on project status, risks, and decisions.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and internal partners to evaluate solutions, review RFPs, and support vendor selection.
  • Act as the central point of contact to manage vendor deliverables and ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Explore innovative solutions and new technologies to meet business needs.
  • Lead the organization in understanding and adopting Agile principles and frameworks.
  • Guide Agile teams in delivering backlog items within defined timeboxes while continuously improving delivery practices.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to ensure clear goal definition, well-formed backlog items, and readiness for delivery.
  • Remove impediments, promote collaboration, and provide coaching to enhance team performance and agility.
  • Report on team performance using KPIs such as burn-down charts, velocity, and value delivery.
Stakeholder Management
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with business leaders, technology teams, and external partners.
  • Facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholders and ensure clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement in how teams adopt and apply delivery frameworks.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent communication, leadership, facilitation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance practices, and delivery frameworks.
  • Deep subject matter expertise in technology and operations (financial services or banking preferred).
  • Ability to lead and influence across all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective knowledge transfer, coaching, and training capabilities.
  • Advanced planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Excel) and understanding of software development processes.
Experience Requirements

Minimum:

  • 3+ years in Project Management, Program Management, or Scrum Master roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading business and technical delivery teams using both project management and Agile methodologies.

Must Have:

  • Strong leadership and coaching capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and work streams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Adaptability, transparency, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in banking or financial services.
  • Business Analyst background.
Education & Certifications

Minimum:
