Job summary

Generac Industrial ULC in Canada seeks a Senior Production Manager to oversee daily operations across multiple production shifts in a large facility. You will drive on-time order execution, productivity, and cost effectiveness while coordinating with Planning, Purchasing, Materials, Ops Engineering, Quality and Facilities.

You will lead cross-functional teams, manage staffing and onboarding, and mentor staff to improve safety, quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business or Industrial Technology.
• 10+ years supervisory experience in operations.
• 8+ years in related manufacturing operations roles.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects with resource management.
• Make to stock or make to order environments experience.
• Fluent English written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Leads supervision including workforce planning, onboarding and training.
• Oversees a plant section with goals for productivity, safety and schedule attainment.
• Collaborates with Planning, Purchasing and Materials to meet KPI targets.
• Mentors production teams and drives continuous improvements.
• Ensures a safe workplace with regular safety inspections and incident reporting.

The scope of ownership includes various manufacturing processes (i.e.. This will be measured by ongoing improvements in driving quality, Safety, and productivity/efficiencyWorks closely with Planning, Purchasing and Materials Management and their teams to achieve SMART goals and KPI’s.Develops and challenges resources to improve performance through systems utilization and process improvements.Coaches and mentors his/her production team to improve engagement with local technical/commercial stakeholders and to establish communication channels between the cross functional teams.Ensures a safe work place is provided for all employees. Implements and executes frequent department safety inspections and assures the accurate completion of all accident reports.Interviews, hires, and monitors the performance of employees for assigned areas; reviews and evaluates their needs and potential; develops appropriate cross-training programs.Reviews the daily and weekly shipping schedules and production capabilities to determine how to employ people, equipment and tooling to execute sequence and expedite daily orders.Designs and directs the work of the team. Selects, coaches and develops staff. Sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manages performance – recognizing achievement, providing feedback and administering progressive discipline when necessary.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
