Position: Sr. Procurement Specialist
Location: Oakville

As the Sr. Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the overall quality and stabilization of the company’s goods and services supply. Through leveraging your knowledge of industry best practices and best-in-class sourcing methodologies, you will support vendor relationships, ensure business continuity in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and maintain effective contract management and global partnerships. Negotiation and cost management skills will be an integral part of this role.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Sr. Procurement Manager of Dufferin Construction & Ontario Materials, the incumbent is responsible for the following functions:

• Plan and manage the company's overall sourcing strategy, leveraging industry best practices, commodity experience, sourcing methodology, and global partnerships.
• Generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies.
• Coordinate the implementation of the awarded programs and understand the company's operations needs and requirements.
• Manage RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, including schedules of compliance in detail, defining criteria to meet, and evaluating bids.
• Negotiate contracts with key suppliers, review supplier scorecards, and propose alternative solutions while continuously seeking to reduce dependency on single-source suppliers through strategic partnerships.
• Manage supplier relationships including tracking supplier performance, overall supply availability, pricing, and quality.
• Build relationships with vendors and key suppliers.
• Develop, implement, and maintain savings and cost avoidance projects, ensuring to track and adjust savings planned vs. carried out.
• Gather all necessary documentation from required internal and external stakeholders.
• Execute analyses and make suggestions for improvement of the overall sourcing strategy.
• Responsible for gathering, preparing, and managing documents like quotes, proposals, and purchase terms and conditions from suppliers. Manage Requests for Information, Requests for Quotes, or Requests for Proposals, including schedules of compliance in their details, defining the criteria to meet, and evaluating the bids from the suppliers.
• Proactively resolve issues (i.e., material shortages, quality issues, etc.) with vendors and internal customers using organizational savvy and critical thinking skills.
• Ensure and manage contracts and overall procurement process compliance with legal and financial processes.

Requirements:

• Post-Secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration, Procurement/Supply Chain, and/or 4+ years of experience within a similar type of role.
• Understanding of Building Materials and Construction business.
• Sound knowledge in negotiation, cost analysis, data analysis, and custom reporting.
• Previous experience working within a fast-paced, matrix-driven environment.
• Agility to work independently with the ability to shift priorities in a fast-growing environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable managing and reporting on multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to concisely communicate escalations, requirements, and issues to suppliers, peers, management, and customers with clarity.
• Keeps an entrepreneurial mindset, deep curiosity, and a passion for learning & growth.
• Demonstrates strong self-efficacy and ability to take initiative in problem-solving.
• Strong team player with a willingness to collaborate and the ability to persuade, influence, and motivate.
• Continuous improvement mindset.
• SAP, Ariba, Coupa experience preferred.
• Available for occasional travel.
